Plant Your Roots
This is a project that I'm really proud of! The capstone course in the public relations programme at Waikato is called MCOM333 - Public Relations Campaigns and it involves students in teams creating and implementing a public relations strategy for an external client over the course of one month.
My cohort's client was the Friends of Hamilton Gardens, a nonprofit committee dedicated to the organisation and running of the local Hamilton Gardens, a collection of botanical gardens in our city and a major tourist attraction. I worked alongside 10 of my classmates to create the campaign 'Plant Your Roots', dedicated to helping migrants integrate into the local community through volunteering with the Friends.
The MCOM333 campaigns are presented before a panel of judges of communications professionals and the winning team takes home the Gordon Chesterman Public Relations Campaigns Award. For 2017, the winner was Plant Your Roots.
